Historical evidence for homosexuals in the British Museum


British Museum launched a project to guidebook focuses on detecting signs of homosexuality between pieces that contain corridors.
And seeks evidence which bears the name of "A Brief History of Gay" to draw symbols for homosexuality of several holdings of ancient Egyptian papyri, and gay sex scenes on the Warren Cup to Roman paintings by the English painter David Hockney.

The evidence reveals which is supervised by Richard Parkinson, one of the Trustees of the museum in the Department of Egyptology, artwork showing the fact that they are gay and difficulties in obtaining historical records of sexual desires Gay.
The unveiling of this historical evidence to coincide with the launch of the mini-festival "London Pride," which will be held next week.
The directory will also focus on a number of important pieces inside the British Museum, dating back to the ancient and modern history together.

In that directory, Parkinson said, explaining that "the museum was still an important place meant people to fathom their sexual identities."

"It includes most of the museums between its shores groups of Greek and Roman statues depicting naked men, so there may be those places is a popular destination for men who feel sexual desire towards males, so that they can look at those naked bodies displayed in art."
The project began in 2010 as part of the effectiveness of the "History of the LGBT" which lasted for a month, which was focused on the follow-up history of homosexuals of both sexes, and since then, it has evolved the idea to crystallize in the book of Parkinson's, which emphasizes that some of the figures who played important roles in History was with homosexual tendencies.
Parkinson explained that the results of a survey the views of visitors for the exhibition set up by the British Museum in 2008 on the Roman Emperor Hadrian showed that few knew that the Emperor was gay.
Parkinson added, "People often think that the history is a history of the gay minority, but it is sure that it was part of the history of mankind."
